SCHOOL DINNER LETTERS

To ensure the kitchen is aware in advance of which children would like vegetarian options, please can the recent letters that were sent to parents be returned with their child’s choices to the office. Thank you in advance.

 

HARVEST SINGING AT THE CO-OP

On Tuesday 22 October, children from Rushbury School will be singing a selection of hymns and songs at Church Stretton Co-op. Funds raised will go towards new adventure playground equipment. The children will leave school at 9.40am. The singing is scheduled for 10.00am. The children will be accompanied by Mrs Manley, Mrs Wilson and Mrs Child.

Children who attend Mr Daley’s guitar and keyboard lessons will not be effected.

 

LEADERS IN READING AWARD

Rushbury School has been nominated for the Shrewsbury Bookfest Leaders’ in Reading award. On Wednesday, judges from the Bookfest visited the school, chatted to the children and collated examples of the work we do at Rushbury school to teach reading. On Wednesday 20 November, there is an awards ceremony in Shrewsbury to announce the winners.

FLU IMMUNISATION

The school nurse team are visiting the school on 8th November 2019 at 9am to administer the annual flu spray. Letters with consent forms were sent home with the children earlier this week. Please ensure the consent form is returned to the office by 23rd October 2019. Thank you.

CANCELLED CROSS COUNTRY DATE

Please note that the cross country club will not be held on 27/11/19 due to staff training.

YEAR 6 TRANSFER TO SECONDARY SCHOOL

Please ensure applications for Secondary School Transfers are submitted to the Shropshire Council Admissions Team as soon as possible. The closing date deadline in 31st October 2019.

The open evenings are now over and there are only 18 days now until the closing date. The closing date is during half term on 31 October 2019.

 

Application received after 31 October are considered as Late. Late applications are considered after all the on time applicants have been allocated their school places.

This means that the pupil is at risk of not being allocated a place at their catchment/ nearest or preferred schools.

KEY STAGE 2 VISIT TO RAF COSFORD

Miss Reeve’s class had a great time on Thursday at RAF Cosford. Thank you to the pupils for their excellent behaviour on the visit and to Mr Norton and Mrs Wilson for driving the minibuses.

WELCOME TO CLAIRE HIELD

Claire has recently joined us as a volunteer to see what life is like in schools, in preparation for starting a university course next year. She will be supporting on Thursday usually, alternating between Mrs Manley and Miss Reeves classes.

A Poppy collection box and poppies will be available to purchase from 25th October from the Office.

 

BEETLE DRIVE

Hope Bowdler PCC run a beetle drive which they raise money for Rushbury school and St Andrews church Hope Bowdler. It is on 18th of October 2019 from 7pm.

Refreshments will be served at half time. Tickets £4 for adults and £2 for children. This is a great fun evening for all the family prizes and excitement. All welcome.
