Until we employ a new chef, Church Stretton Secondary School will be providing us with school meals. The menu for the first two weeks back is attached. Please note that on Friday week 1 the meal choice will be fish cakes and not fish pie. In addition, the menu will be put on the school website in the ‘Parent’ ‘Information’ tab. Thank you to the South Shropshire Academy Trust for providing this service.

CHEF- JOB READVERTISEMENT

The advert for this job can be found on the school website in the ‘Governors’ tab under ‘Information.’

ARMISTICE BELL RINGING

“Her Majesty’s Government’s ambition is for bells to ring out at 12.30pm on 11th November to commemorate the centenary of the Armistice which signalled the end of the First World War. They want bells across the country and worldwide to join in to mark this historic occasion.   This will be a symbolic way to give thanks for the end of war 100 years ago. Bells ringing out at 12.30 will help mark the shift in emphasis from Remembrance in the morning to thanksgiving in the afternoon for the end of the war and for peace.” In Rushbury, the bell ringers have invited pupils of the school to ring the all six bells in the village and join in this event. There will need to be an adult to supervise each child and please arrive at the Church shortly before 12:30 to receive instruction.

YEAR 6 SECONDARY SCHOOL APPLICATIONS

This is a reminder for all parents/carers of Year 6 pupils to make their secondary school applications. The closing date is Wednesday 31 October 2018. Oversubscribed schools will not accept late applications.

FRIENDS OF RUSHBURY SCHOOL

Bag Packing Volunteers Saturday 27th October

Our partnership with Church Stretton Co-op has so far raised an amazing £897. For our next joint fund-raising event we need some volunteer ‘bag-packers’ to give an hour of their time on Saturday 27th October between the hours of 10.00 am and 3.00 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for our children to meet people from their local community and offer a helping hand. Thank you to those who have volunteered. Please could children wear school uniform and please note parents must stay and be responsible for their children.

WORLD WAR ONE EXHIBITION AND LUNCH

HOCKEY PLAYING AND TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Stretton Sharks junior hockey have been running after-school sessions on School Mondays between 3.30-5.00 at the Leisure Centre sports hall for over 12 years. Sessions are run by an England Hockey qualified coach with enhanced DBS, Safegurding, 1st Aid and CPD certification. The children can go on to play in organised  games at weekends, either friendly or competitive according to age group and confidence/ability if they wish. We would be delighted to welcome more children from Rushbury School to come along and take part (we don\’t start \”proper\” coaching until 4pm to allow for travel from outside of Church Stretton.)
We will be operating a session on Monday Oct 22nd to which all newcomers are invited along and/or at the return after half-term on Monday November 5th.
