SPORTS AFTERNOON

This event will be held on Monday 25th June at 1.15 pm. Please ensure that your child has his/her full PE kit in school and a hat, water bottle and sun cream. Many thanks to the ‘Friends’ committee who will be selling refreshments. We do hope you will be able to join us.

SPONSORED WALK

On Tuesday 26th June the whole school will be going on the sponsored walk organised by the Friends. We will leave school at approximately 9.30 am. The children will need appropriate footwear and clothing for the long walk, a packed lunch (if you have not ordered one from the kitchen) and water that can be carried in a rucksack. If it is a sunny day please also ensure they have sun hats and sun cream There will be no forest school or music lessons on that day. The children will be transported back to school by mini bus but parents will have to walk back. Once you have collected your sponsorship money please send in to school in an envelope marked Friends by Monday 2nd July. Thank you.

CONCORD COLLEGE CHOIR COMPETITION

Well done to all the children who took part in this choir competition. The standard was very high. They performed brilliantly but the competition was won by Much Wenlock Primary School. Congratulations to them. Thank you also to the Friends who provided ice creams for the children afterwards. We hope to eventually upload the performance onto the school website.

YEAR 6 LOUDMOUTH PRODUCTION

On Thursday 28th June year 6 children will visit Longnor School to watch the theatre production ‘My Mate Fancies You.’ This is part of their sex education programme.   The children will travel by school minibus and will be accompanied by Mrs Wilson. They will be leaving shortly after morning registration and will return to school in time for lunch.

SAFER SCHOOLS MEETING

The safer schools meeting will take place on Friday 29th June. Some of our pupils will be representing the school at this meeting which will be held at the school. The local authority, members of the local community and school staff will also be attending. If you have not already filled in your questionnaire please do so and return as soon as possible so that the children can sort them before the meeting.   Thank you.

MESSAGE FROM FRIENDS REGARDING DONATIONS FOR SUMMER FAYRE

Our Summer Fayre is fast approaching and we’re seeking donations of bottles of anything (from tomato ketchup to water to wine), puddings and cakes. These are for the bottle stall and the all new Pudding & Cake Tent. The bottles can be dropped off at school any time between now and Thursday 5th July. Puddings and cakes are to be dropped off at school on the day of the Fayre. All donations are gratefully received.

SWIMMING

Please note that this week Thursday 28th June is the last swimming lesson for this term. (Year 6 will not be going swimming due to the Loudmouth performance).

DRINKS IN SCHOOL

Just a reminder to parents that children should only be bringing water into school in their drinks bottles. Fruit juice, squash and flavoured waters are not allowed.

CHESS CLUB

There is no chess club for the rest of this term.   The club will resume in September.

MEDICATION IN SCHOOL

Recently several children have been bringing in tablets or eye drops to be taken during the school day. Please be aware that if you wish your child to be given medication whilst at school, parents need to fill in an ‘Agreement to Administer Medicine’ form.

BEGINNING AND END OF DAY ARRANGEMENTS

It has been noticed that some parents are bringing their children into school as early as 8.30 am. Please do not bring your child into the building until 8.45am. We cannot supervise their safety before this (cleaning chemicals out etc.) and teachers may not be in their classrooms or will be preparing for the day ahead. If you do need to drop your child off early please arrange pre-school care (£2 per half hour) with Miss Carter.

Also please could all parents make sure arrangements are in place to pick up their children from school at 3.15pm promptly or promptly at the end of clubs and after school care. We understand that exceptional circumstances can delay people on occasion, and should this be the case, please contact us so that we are aware. However, we have noticed that a number of children are regularly picked up late. This is unfair on the children and delays everybody’s work. If your child is not picked up punctually you will be charged £2 which is the rate per half hour for after school care.

DOGS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS

Will parents please not bring dogs onto the school playground or field. Thank you.

Leo Bell – for bringing the pheasant chicks in to school. Thank you.
