Please remember that all future diary dates can be found on the school website.

On Tuesday 3rd July Sally Tonge storyteller will be coming in to school to work with key stage 2 children. The theme will be fish. She will be talking about magic fish, wishing fish and the legendary king of the fishes….. She has been working on a project with the Severn Rivers Trust about migratory fish. Thank you to the friends who fund this experience for the children.

On Thursday 5th July Jean Atkin, a poet will be coming in to school. She will be working with Class 2 and 3 in the morning and with Class 1 in the afternoon.

On Thursday 5th July reception and year 1 children will be travelling to Church Stretton school to take part in the Early Year’s Sport Festival. They will travel by school mini bus and be back in time for lunch. Please ensure your child has a PE kit and water bottle in school that day.

The ‘Friends Committee’ would like to thank all the parents and supporters who helped raise an overwhelming £161 on Sports Afternoon. It was lovely to see so many people take advantage of the variety of refreshments on sale on such a hot day. A special thank you goes to Dawn for donating the use of her kitchen freezer. All proceeds raised will go towards the ongoing Playground Appeal.

A very big thank you to all the children of Rushbury School for their outstanding effort and behaviour during the Sponsored Walk. They really did themselves proud as they encouraged and helped each other along on what turned out to be a very warm day. Thank you also to all the parents who joined us on the walk, which was followed by a picnic on the grounds of Wilderhope Manor. The children are now being asked to send their sponsorship money in to school in an envelope marked ‘Friends’ by Monday 2nd July. Thank you.

Following on from the safer school’s meeting could we remind all parents to park considerately so as not to block anyone else in. Also could you please leave driveways clear and ensure there is room for the mini buses to reverse in the car park.

Next Thursday (5th July) the Summer Fayre will take place from 5pm on the school grounds. The final preparations are taking place for what looks set to be a fun-filled event for the whole school and community to enjoy. Bouncy castles, donkey rides, face painting, an obstacle course, splat the rat, and coconut shy will be just a few of the activities taking place alongside the barbecue, beat the goalie and water slide. The ‘Friends Committee’ continue to welcome any donations for the bottle stall and pudding and cake tent. The bottles can be dropped off at school any time between now and Thursday 5th July. Puddings and cakes are to be dropped off at school on the day of the Fayre. All donations are gratefully received. Thank you

Just a reminder to parents that children should only be bringing water into school in their drinks bottles. Fruit juice, squash and flavoured waters are not allowed.

Recently several children have been bringing in tablets or eye drops to be taken during the school day. Please be aware that if you wish your child to be given medication whilst at school, parents need to fill in an ‘Agreement to Administer Medicine’ form.

It has been noticed that some parents are bringing their children into school as early as 8.30 am. Please do not bring your child into the building until 8.45am. We cannot supervise their safety before this (cleaning chemicals out etc.) and teachers may not be in their classrooms or will be preparing for the day ahead. If you do need to drop your child off early please arrange pre-school care (£2 per half hour) with Miss Carter.

Also please could all parents make sure arrangements are in place to pick up their children from school at 3.15pm promptly or promptly at the end of clubs and after school care. We understand that exceptional circumstances can delay people on occasion, and should this be the case, please contact us so that we are aware. However, we have noticed that a number of children are regularly picked up late. This is unfair on the children and delays everybody’s work. If your child is not picked up punctually you will be charged £2 which is the rate per half hour for after school care.

Will parents please not bring dogs onto the school playground or field. Thank you.
