WELCOME MESSAGE FROM MRS PYE

Welcome back to the new school year at Rushbury. I hope you all had a good summer break and feel fully recharged and refreshed for the school year ahead. This term we warmly welcome the following new Reception pupils to our school: Dominic Bartl, Lexie Brown, Annabel Hughes, Max Madeley, Annabel Oxley and Layla Rafferty We also welcome London Bradshaw to Year 1, Irah Hoskin to Year 2 and Tom Oxley to Year 3.   We wish them all the very best during their time with us.

SAFER SCHOOL CHANGES

Following the ‘Safer School’ meeting in July we will be making changes to after-school club security arrangements. The school gates will be locked during the after-school club. The club leader will bring the children to the top gate at the end of the club session.   Parents of children using after-school care with Miss Carter will need to use the main reception door. Thank you.

RECEPTION / YEAR 1 SPORTS FESTIVAL

On Thursday 14th September, Class 1 reception and Year 1 children will be visiting Church Stretton Secondary School to take part in this enjoyable event. They will be joined by children from local schools. The children will be transported by school minibus. Please could the children make sure they have their P.E. kit in school on Thursday.

KEY STAGE 2 BREAKTIME SNACKS

The government does not provide free fruit for Key Stage 2 children. Children in Classes 2 and 3 can bring in a piece of fruit for playtimes. We recommend an apple or banana as these provide energy and help the children to form healthy eating habits. At this time of year we have lots of locally grown apples donated to the school. A basket of apples is currently available for the children to help themselves to apples at playtime. The children will inform you when these run out.

PARENTS’ EVENING FOR RECEPTION CHILDREN

On Monday 25th September, between 3.30 and 5.00pm, we will be holding a parents’ evening for parents of our new reception children. Parents will have the opportunity to chat with Mrs Manley, ask questions and discuss how their child is settling into school. An appointment letter will be sent out in the near future.

SHREWSBURY FLOWER SHOW

Thank you to Saskia, Clara, Grace, Emma and all of the parents who helped to build and create our garden for the Shrewsbury Flower Show. Well done to Saskia Gravestock who received high praise from the judges for her design and the final build.
